My Favourite Bridal Hair & Makeup (Part 1)

Hello Everyone! As you know no hair, makeup or weddings have taken place over the last 5 months, and so I wanted to revisit a few of my favourite hair and makeups that I have had the pleasure of doing at some of the most beautiful wedding venues around the West Midlands.

I have been honoured to take part in so many incredible weddings and today I am going to start with Katie’s wedding, then I will continue with a series of my favourite hair and makeups over the next few weeks .

The part of my job that I love the most is helping the bride to fulfil their vision and to feel confident in themselves. I feel so privileged that I can do this with my artistry background, a few brushes and the right products.

I guess I am drawn to quirky, more alternative weddings but really any wedding where the couples are truly themselves, I absolutely adore!

I met Katie at All About Ewe alternative wedding fair that was hosted at The Bond on Fazeley Street, Birmingham City Centre.  We instantly hit it off, Katie is beautifully tall, elegant, with tattoos and pink hair. She had fallen in love with a picture at the wedding fair of a makeup I had done previously for a bridal shoot, which was a bright orange lip with peachy eyes. I absolutely love oranges, pastel peaches and was so excited to recreate this look and incorporate it into Katie’s unique style.

The Inspiration

THE VENUE

Katie was married at the Fleece Inn in Bretforton, a National trust owned historic country pub, originally built in the early 15th century by a farmer. The property has stayed in the same family when it was left to the National trust in 1977. Located not far from the Cotswolds with a luscious garden and an apple orchard, it also serves amazing locally grown food and is perfect for all those real ale lovers!

Katie and her bridesmaids got ready over at her mom’s house in Redditch, where the bridesmaids wore a halo braid with flowers from Artistian dried flower company and a soft glowing skin with golden smokey eyes. Katie had soft boho waves put through her hair, which were pinned gently into a soft loose Gibson roll at the nape of the neck. The peach and pink tones of Katie’s hair really showed through, highlighting the soft waves and accented with dried lilac and white flowers, also provided The Artisian dried flower company.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

For Katies makeup I chose to use a variation of bright oranges, peachy hues, antique golds, and rusty smokey shades blown out around the upper and lower lids, teamed with individual lashes and accentuated with mascara. The look really bought out the deep blue of Katie’s eyes and was finished off with oodles of glowing champagne highlighter and a bright peachy lip. This look was made for her!

I love getting to know my brides, spending time with them and creating their perfect look for their wedding day. Being a part of Katie’s special morning, getting to know her bridal party and family was just a lovely experience. I can’t thank them enough and would like to wish the happy couple many amazing years together.

I love spending time creating hair and makeup looks, I tend to pull ideas of makeup colour palettes from old paintings and can be found with my head in dusty books of old artworks or slowly walking around art galleries absorbing in all the inspiration, and it got me thinking?…

Where do you draw your inspiration from for your favourite hair and makeup styles?

Next week I will be revisiting Rebecca’s wedding at The Bond, Birmingham
