My Favourite Bridal Hair & Makeup (Part 3)

Happy Saturday

Enjoy this weekend if you are in Brum … and get ready for local lockdown:(

My third blog in this series is Louise’s wedding, that took place at Dumbleton Hall Hotel on the borders of Gloucestershire and Worcestershire near Evesham.

I met Louise through a friend of a friend a few years ago and was delighted when she asked me to do the hair and makeup for her wedding.

THE INSPIRATION

Louise sent me some photos of the kind of bridal hair and makeup she wanted. (see below) She wanted boho textured waves with braids and twists for the hair and then smokey golden brown eyes, black liner with lashes, matte skin and a berry lip for the makeup.

THE VENUE

The original Dumbleton Hall dates back to 1534 as the home of the Cocks family for over 200 years. After the death of Sir Richard Cocks in the late 18th century the Hall fell into disrepair and was sadly demolished.

Rebuilt in the mid 19th century using Cotswold stone, Dumbleton Hall became home to the Eyres family and in the 1930′s the Hall was well known for its popular house parties with regular guests including John Betjeman, later to become Poet Laureate, and the famous Mitford sisters.

The Hall became a private hotel in 1959 when it was purchased by the present owners The Post Office Fellowship of Remembrance for the benefit of its own members. The hotel has been open to the public since 1995.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

Louise has lovely red hair and really wanted some more length added, so I chose a few different shades of red and strawberry blonde extensions to achieve this look, braids and twists in the hair take up ALOT of hair so it is always ideal to add in extensions to create fuller looking curls and to construct nice chunky braids.  I LOVE this style and wish my hair looked like this when I got out of bed everyday!

For Louise’s makeup I used a yellow golden shimmery shade to bring out her blue eyes on the lids and warm chestnut browns on the outer edges and underneath the lash line, (MAC and Morphe shadows)  Louise loves to use black eyeliner in her water line, which I also cannot tear myself away from.  I finished the eyes with a thin black liquid top liner and lots of lashes.

Louise wanted to cover a few red areas so I used a full coverage matte foundation (Kat Von D Lock it Foundation) with matte bronzer ( Vallarta NARS) and a matte light peach blusher (Honeysuckle Kat Von D) I finished off with a Berry lips stain. (Broadest berry chubby stick Clinique)

I had help from a fellow hair and makeup artist Zara to help with the bridesmaids, they decided to have soft curls, simple undos and a combination of soft grey smokey eyes, heavier darker gold and black smokey eyes and matte mauve lips, one of my favourites we used was the Mauvelous liquid lipstick from Elf . The bridesmaids also rocked sequin gold dresses and gorgeous forest green dreses.

Louise’s dress was from WED2BE and was called Osiris.

THE REVIEW

For our wedding last weekend Nicola did the hair and make up for myself and my bridal party. We all looked absolutely stunning and I got so many comments about how lovely my hair was. Nicola was lovely through the planning process and I had a great trial, leaving me feeling comfortable and confident in the choice I had made. Thank you so much Nicky!

As always, Bee Lovely
